Famous beaches and resorts of TRNC

Famous beaches and resorts of TRNC

The Mediterranean Sea washes the island on all sides, forming a wide sandy coastline on the east coast and picturesque stone cliffs on the west coast.

Best beaches

The island is famous for its pristine sandy beaches, which are a hallmark of the warm Mediterranean.

The Famagusta region is a favorite destination for tourists from different countries. It is here that the most colorful beaches of the island are located, such as:

  • Silver Beach
  • Palm Beach
  • Long Beach
  • Clapsides
  • Halk plaji
  • Long Beach
  • Pera
  • LOOF
  • Bafra
  • Izic
  • Kumyali
  • Blu Sea Karpasia
  • Golden Beach

The sandy beaches of Famagusta are distinguished by their natural origin: they were created by nature over the centuries-long history of the island, with a wide coastline and gentle entry into the sea. Tourists also often travel from Famagusta to the white beaches of the Karpas Peninsula, where exotic flora and fauna untouched by civilization have been preserved.

Tourism development in the TRNC is only gaining momentum. In 2025, the government allocated 2.7 billion liras, a significant part of which goes to the maintenance of transport roads and the improvement of local municipal beaches. At the same time, the developed infrastructure on the coast is already a hallmark of the region. Each beach is equipped with restaurants and modern cafes where you can try fresh fish caught early in the morning by local fishermen.

Resorts in the region

Traditionally, the most comfortable recreation areas are considered to be the beach areas near large hotels, where all the conditions for a full-fledged vacation are created (sun loungers, cafes, toilets, changing rooms, showers, etc.). However, the island also has other interesting coastal areas where you can enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful rocky landscapes.

One such area is the turtle beach of Alagadi (Kyrenia). The water here is so clean that turtles lay their eggs in the sand throughout the summer. The IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature under the UN, monitors the risk of violations in the natural environment. As part of the Union's activities, the UN and the government allocate funds annually to ensure the cleanliness of the region's beaches and nature. This is the reason for the large influx of tourists visiting the region all year round.

The Camelot resort area is located in the village of Lapta. Behind it is Denizkizi, a beach specializing in active sports for visitors of all ages (windsurfing, water skiing, etc.).

Also worth mentioning is the famous Sunset Beach at the Acapulco resort hotel with spacious outdoor pools, inflatable slides, mini-pools, and children's playgrounds.

A distinctive feature of the TRNC is that all residential projects in the region are located practically on the seashore (within 500 meters) and represent an independent resort area with all the necessary infrastructure. The region's resorts offer beautiful views and accommodation of various levels of comfort. The recreation areas are rich in marine entertainment, dining options, and diving schools.
